This is my first time to attend BACon and will also be my First In-Person Professional Speaking Debut. This is the first IIBA In-Person Conference at least in the United States since the Pandemic. Leadership is not a job title or a position and BA’s make perfect leaders. It is critical that Senior BAs are leaders which complements their skills as mentors, coaches, and trainers. Before I hit the road to speak in person, I visit Canada for a Virtual Event. I am honored to speak at one of our newest chapters, the Greater London Ontario Chapter. One of the essential skills for a Business Analyst (BA) is how they work with people. There are not any projects that exist where a BA doesn’t have to communicate with people. 85% of what a BA does is related to having excellent soft skills.

When you Google Soft Skills, you get a plethora of items. Top Five, Top Seven, Top Ten, and so on. There are five that are more critical than others, and they are the focus of this presentation.

Join me on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, as I present “The Case For Business Analysts on Agile Teams.” The event will be held from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm EDT.

Many Agile Purists say there is no need for a BA on an Agile team. This opinion could not be further from the truth. The belief appears to have resulted from the fact that Business Analyst was not a job title on an Agile Team. The challenge to anyone is to explain how you can have a successful project without business analysis. Although many companies do not use the business analyst's title anymore, there's no doubt that someone is performing Business Analysis.
