2023 Has a Small Bump in the Road

This blog is personal and is not something that was planned. A few weeks ago, my bad leg from last summer didn’t feel right. It was hard to describe the feeling but having had several blood clots and an embolism, you know when something is off. I made an appointment with my vascular surgeon, who has an ultrasound machine in his office. The ultrasound showed a right pseudoaneurysm in my right femoral artery. He could see that the artery had a hole and possibly was leaking. He knew I needed surgery, but I would have another test to determine what I needed.

This was three days before my birthday and was not a requested gift. I didn’t want to say anything until I knew what was needed. Last Wednesday, I found out I needed a stent to close the hole in the artery. After the initial gut punch and a week of waiting to find out the exact surgery type, I felt relieved. My surgery is on Friday, March 10th, at 9:30 am CDT.

This surgery is minor compared to what I had last August. I should be home the same day or the next day. I may be tired and weak for about a week. I would be there if I told you I would speak for your event. I have cleared my calendar to allow for rest. I am asking for your positive vibes and prayers.

I am the Optimistic BA and a fighter. I still am feeling good but have occasional discomfort. I have so much content I want to talk about, but I always want to be transparent about my life. I intend to make the medical team laugh but not during surgery. Until next time, please keep your glass at least half-full.
