Why is Being a BA a Great Career Choice?

Being a Business Analyst is not only my career but is my passion. My decision to retire early was to be able to pursue my passions in Business Analysis. This was one of my life’s best decisions, and I have never looked back. I googled this subject and came up with many results that were not current and unfamiliar.

I begin with my reasons and then share some recommendations if you want to start a business analyst career. I was not looking for a new job, but we had a very painful reorganization that resulted in a significant reduction in pay for me.

  1. You have a chance to be a change catalyst.

  2. Your days are fast-paced and never the same.

  3. You can be creative and directly affect your company’s bottom line with your projects.

  4. The salaries are above average.

  5. The business analysis profession is expected to be one of the fastest-growing careers in the next few years.

  6. You need to join IIBA®, and you will move your career to the next level.

    1. IIBA® has many resources, such as an online library, white papers, blogs, and more.

    2. IIBA® has an excellent certification program and a discount for members.

    3. Join your IIBA® local chapter and consider becoming a volunteer.

    4. Volunteering will bring many rewards that far outweigh your volunteer time.

    5. IIBA® opens up many networking opportunities and expands your network.

    6. The quality of people you meet is second to none, and many will become family.

As you can tell, I could write a book the size of War & Peace about why being a BA is fantastic. I would not have become half the business analyst I am without joining IIBA® and becoming a volunteer. If you are already a BA, please keep being successful. If you want to start your career, these are my two recommendations for how to start. Two companies I recommend are Laura Brandenburg at https://www.bridging-the-gap.com/about-bridging-the-gap/ and Eno Eka at https://www.businessanalysisschool.com/. Their companies will help you start your business analysis career. Until next time, please keep your glass at least half-full.
